about KATIE

I'm Katie Lee Hornberger, a multi-state licensed, certified genetic counselor. When I first started my career in reproductive genetic counseling over eight years ago, I had no idea that I would be facing a fertility journey of my own. My partner and I started trying for our second child in 2018 and were met with unexplained recurrent miscarriages- five of them.

Provide accurate information on miscarriages and fertility, delivered empathetically by someone who has been through it herself.

Check out my YouTube channel Katie Lee CGC Talks Miscarriage and Fertility. On this channel I share information about genetic testing related to fertility including explanations of carrier screening, genetic testing on embryos, non-invasive prenatal test (NIPT) and much more. I also share my own experience with recurrent miscarriage and review books on pregnancy loss.

What I do

Matched with MGH

I'd like to thank you for all of the help you provided. You helped me realize what I truly wanted in a program. I appreciate you for the kind and helpful person you are. I look forward to the day we're colleagues in the GC world.

Matched with U of M

I applied to 10 schools this time, got interviews at 6, and matched to University of Michigan! I couldn't have done this without all the incredible resources you have shared through your channel. The channel was a major source of support for me when I didn't get any interviews at GC programs last year. I've also relied on your channel for application tips, be it for writing my CV, personal statement, or preparing for interviews.

Matched to U of M

I just wanted to let you know that last Friday I was matched to the University of Michigan!!! It has been my dream to attend UMich ever since I was a kid, and I am so excited to be able to fulfill that dream learning to become a genetic counselor. I cannot thank you enough for your willingness to help me with all the questions I had about the field.

Thanks again for all the invaluable wisdom
